Former UW and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Warren Moon pleads guilty to negligent driving in Redmond, Wash. on Monday, August 6, 2007.
SEATTLE – Attorneys representing former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Warren Moon, charged with DUI, says the Hall of Famer was not drunk when he was pulled over December 28.
"Mr. Moon unequivocally states that his ability was to drive was in no way impaired by alcohol," reads a statement by the firm of Fox Bowman Duarte.
Moon was stopped by Medina Police around 2 a.m. on State Route 520 for having expired tabs on his car. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, then processed and released from a Kirkland police station.
His attorneys say the car was a loaner from a dealer and that Moon didn't know the tabs were expired. They claim the ticket for the expired tabs has been paid.
In addition, Moon was reportedly driving with a suspended Washington license, but had a valid Texas driver's license. Moon's attorneys say the information about the suspended license was "erroneous" from the Department of Licensing's computer and that the information has been corrected.
Moon, who now does commentary on Seahawks radio broadcasts, is scheduled to enter a plea on February 5.
Last year, Moon pleaded guilty to negligent driving after being arrested for possible DUI in April 2007. After being taken to the police station that night, he blew a .068 and a .067 which are below the legal limit in Washington State of .08.
