Entertaining expert Leigh Ann is a self-described "foodie" who grew up with family gathered around the table, sharing stories and great meals.

Over time, her passion for cooking and entertaining grew as well. And now not only is it her profession, but also her evenings and weekends revolve around preparing and sharing great food.
“I’m just like everyone else,” Leigh Ann laughs. “When I get home every evening, I too wonder ‘what to make for dinner?’ I look for fast and simple recipes, using ingredients that are in season and delicious.”
Kentucky grown
Leigh Ann was born in Kentucky and then spent many of her teenage years in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Wittenberg University, and as part of her college studies, she spent a year in Greece. Originally there to study philosophy, Leigh Ann really enjoyed being immersed in Mediterranean culture and cuisine.
Making the Move to Portland
Leigh Ann moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1999 where she began working with Fred Meyer. This popular regional retailer started in 1922 and now brings one-stop shopping (combining a full-service grocery store with complete selections of clothing, home goods, electronics and more) to 130 locations in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Fred Meyer is part of the Kroger Co., one of the nation’s largest retail grocery chains with 2,486 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states.
Leigh Ann developed a cooking tips and instructions program for Fred Meyer, which led to a television cooking segment that has run for seven years and airs in several regional markets.
Cooking...for fun!
When not doing this work, Leigh Ann unwinds by… cooking and entertaining! “In my life, cooking serves as my therapy, a way to challenge myself, a comfort and an enjoyable source of bonding with my husband, family and friends,” says Leigh Ann. “I also consider myself fortunate to live in a very progressive food town: Portland. It’s a wonderful place to experience new food and restaurant concepts.”

She has recently pioneered a new Portland program called Cusina, where cooking classes are taught to people who have recently transitioned from living on the street to permanent housing.
