Unit: 205th Medical Battalion, Missouri Army National Guard, Kansas City, Mo.
Circumstances: Died Feb. 1 as a result of injuries sustained while a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by another vehicle in Doha, Qatar.

Unit: Army National Guard's C Company, 1-293rd Infantry, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Circumstances: Died Feb. 6 in Kuwait as a result of a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle rollover.

Hometown: Bennettsville, S.C.
Unit: Army's B Battery, 3-43rd Air Defense Artillery, Fort Bliss, Texas.
Circumstances: Died March 8 from injuries sustained when the vehicle he was traveling in rolled over March 3 near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Unit: 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Circumstances: Died March 13 in Kuwait of a non-combat related injury.

Circumstances: Died April 25 in the vicinity of Ne Shkin, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained during a firefight with enemy forces.

Unit: Tactical air command and control specialist assigned to the 14th Air Support Operation Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.
Circumstances: Died of wounds received April 25 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Circumstances: Died May 17 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Taylor suffered a heart attack after completing physical training.

Spc. Kelvin E. Feliciano Gutierrez

Hometown: Anasco, Puerto Rico
Unit: Army's Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Circumstances: Died June 28 in Orgun-E, Afghanistan. Gutierrez was a .50-caliber gunner on a vehicle that was returning from patrol when it veered off the road and turned over.

Unit: Army's 213th Area Support Group, Allentown, Pa.
Circumstances: Died July 9 in Bagram, Afghanistan, of a non-combat related cause.

Circumstances: Died of wounds received in action Aug. 20 in Afghanistan.


Sgt. 1st Class Mitchell A. Lane

Unit: Army's 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Circumstances: Died Aug. 29 in Afghanistan of injuries received when Lane fell approximately 25 feet while he was conducting a fast rope infiltration into a known enemy cave complex.

Circumstances: Died Aug. 31 in Shkin, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his squad was attacked while on patrol.


Spc. Lisa M. Andrews

Hometown: Lenexa, Kan.
Unit: Army's 129th Transportation Company, U.S. Army Reserve, based in New Century, Kan.
Circumstances: Died Sept. 26 near Overland Park, Kan. Andrews was on leave from her unit when she was struck and killed by a civilian vehicle as she was walking across U.S. Highway 69.


Pfc. Evan W. O'Neill
Age: 19
Hometown: Haverhill, Mass.
Unit: Army's 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
Circumstances: Died Sept. 29 in Shkin, Afghanistan. O'Neill was on patrol when he was engaged by enemy forces. He died of injuries sustained during the attack.


Lt. Col. Paul W. Kimbrough
Age: 44
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
Unit: Army's 416th Engineer Command, Team 28, U.S. Army Reserve, Fort Benning, Ga.
Circumstances: Died Oct. 3 in Incirlik, Turkey, of a non-combat related cause. Kimbrough was medically evacuated from Baghram, Afghanistan, to Turkey. He was taken to the 39th Medical Squadron, where he remained hospitalized until his death.


Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Darrell Jones

Hometown: Wellston, Ohio
Unit: USS Higgins, with its home port in San Diego.
Circumstances: Died Oct. 8 in Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates, of non-combat related injuries.


Staff Sgt. Paul A. Sweeney

Hometown: Lakeville, Pa.
Unit: Army's 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Circumstances: Died Oct. 30 of wounds sustained during an ambush near Musa, Qalax, Afghanistan.
