The Tillamook County sheriff says a man has been fatally shot after he threatened two deputies with a hatchet.
Sheriff Todd Anderson said the deputies who responded to a disturbance call Friday at a Garibaldi home found a man breaking into a mobile home. The sheriff says the man was holding a hatchet and threatened the deputies.
Tillamook Police Chief Terry Wright says the questions of how many shots were fired — and whether both deputies fired — are under investigation.
The dead man was not immediately identified, pending notification of relatives. The deputies have not been identified.
