He may better known outside his hometown, but now everyone in Baker City can learn about Bruce Klunder.
The 27-year-old pastor was killed in 1964 while protesting the construction of a segregated school in Cleveland. He's one of 40 people memorialized at the nation's Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, Ala.
A new plaque installed at the Baker County Courthouse includes a description of Klunder's life and death and a photograph of Klunder sporting a crew cut, horn-rimmed glasses and a smile.
The dedication was attended by more than 30 of Klunder's classmates from Baker High School's Class of 1954. They were in town over the Fourth of July weekend for their 55th class reunion.
