07/06/2009

Associated Press

The war in Afghanistan is taking a toll on soldiers from Washington. An Aberdeen family was told their son was killed on the Fourth of July. Meanwhile, the family of a Steilacoom soldier killed June 18 is burying him Monday.

An Army chaplain went to the Aberdeen home David Masters and his wife Shelly and told them her 21-year-old son, Private Aaron Fairbairn, had been killed in a truck bombing in Afghanistan. The Defense Department has not officially announced the death.

The family of 24-year-old Lt. Brian Bradshaw is holding a memorial service for him Monday at St. John Bosco Catholic church in Lakewood, followed by burial at the Tahoma National Cemetery.

He was killed by a homemade bomb in Afghanistan.
