An Athena police officer is in custody charged with sodomy, sexual abuse and online corruption of a minor.

The officer, Mark Ashcroft, joined the force in the town north of Pendleton in 2007 and had previously worked in Pilot Rock.

He was taken to Umatilla County Jail with bail set at $22,500. All charges are felonies.

No further details were immediately available.
