Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark has pulled out of the U.S. Open because of an ear infection.
Kjeldsen, who qualified for the U.S. Open by finishing among the top 15 on the European Tour money list last year, is the fifth player to withdraw. He was replaced in the field Wednesday by Steven Conway of Murrietta, Calif.
Conway was the first alternate from sectional qualifying in Roslyn, Wash., and he becomes the 31st player in the 156-man field at Bethpage Black to have gone through 18-hole local and 36-hole sectional qualifying.
