Former Seattle resident James Ujaama is testifying in New York federal court in the terrorism trial of a man accused of traveling from London to set up training camp in Bly, Ore.
The Seattle Times reports Ujaama said Tuesday he hopes his testimony results in a reduction in the sentence of up to 30 years he faces after pleading guilty to conspiracy.
Ujaama is a prosecution witness in the trial of Oussama Kassir who is accused of helping set up the camp in 1999 to train jihadists to fight in Afghanistan.
The Times says Ujaama visited the camp and promoted it to Muslim extremists in London. He pleaded guilty in 2003 to conspiring to provide cash, computers and fighters to the Taliban.
