The state has completed negotiations with the Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad that will allow the company to keep running a branch line from Cheney to Coulee City.
The state Department of Transportation in December became concerned about the railroad's financial condition and issued a termination notice for its lease.
That notice has now been rescinded, after the railroad agreed to financial and operational benchmarks. The Cheney to Coulee City line mostly carries grain to market.
