Evergreen International Airlines has joined six other airlines to challenge Federal Aviation Administration rules aimed at limiting pilot fatigue on international flights.
The new rules require longer rest periods for pilots of international flights running more than 16 hours.
The rules were issued to deal with concerns about providing more rest for pilots at a time when demand for long international flights is increasing.
The lawsuit, filed Dec. 24 with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, challenges the FAA's reasoning and legal authority.
McMinnville-based Evergreen is one of two cargo carriers joining in the action. The other is New York-based Atlas Air.
