A Coos County man who sexually abused a friend's daughter has been sentenced to 25 years in an Oregon penitentiary.
Richard Talbert of North Bend had pleaded guilty last month to first-degree unlawful sexual penetration.
This week's sentencing fell under Oregon's "Jessica's Law," which requires that a felony sex offense involving a child under 12 carry a 25-year minimum sentence.
North Bend police officers arrested the 24-year-old Talbert on July 14.
Prosecutors say the abuse had gone on for at least a year.
