Columbia County District Attorney R. Stephen Atchison says a self-inflicted gunshot wound killed a Vernonia man who was in a car being stopped by police.
Two Vernonia officers pulled up behind the vehicle Friday night after getting a report that a man inside it had a gun. When the car stopped, a woman got out and told officers that 21-year-old Kolton Graham had a gunshot wound.
Atchison says Graham died at the scene, and an autopsy performed Sunday concluded that he shot himself in the head.
