More than a thousand firefighters are concentrating on burning fuel within the boundary lines of the Cold Springs fire near Mt. Adams.
The 7,956-acre fire is 60 percent contained. It has been burning in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and on the Yakama Indian Reservation since July 12.
Fire spokesman James Stone says large pockets of unburned fuel remain inside fire lines and officials are concerned it could burn later in the fire season.
Fire officials on Saturday also called the Spokane Valley Fire 100 percent contained. Crews will continue to patrol the perimeter.
