The sinking Seattle Mariners have recalled right-handed knuckleballer R.A. Dickey from Triple-A Tacoma.
Dickey, who was in uniform for the series finale at Detroit, fills the roster spot created when Seattle designated right hander Cha Seung Baek for assignment Wednesday night.
Dickey, the 33-year-old former No. 1 draft choice of the Texas Rangers, was also recalled from Tacoma on April 14. He appeared in one game in relief and made one start for injured ace Erik Bedard — April 18 at the Los Angeles Angels, when he allowed five runs and eight hits in six innings while taking the loss.
In seven starts with Tacoma, Dickey was 2-5 with a 3.44 ERA, 30 strikeouts and eight walks.
