Lee Enterprises says the publisher and editor of The World in Coos Bay have left the company, and their successor will hold both jobs.

Nathan Bekke, regional executive for Lee, says the new leader of The World will have responsibility for news and editorial content, as well as for the management of advertising, circulation, http://www.theworldlink.com and other business areas, including The World's weeklies in Bandon and Reedsport.

He says the appointment is expected in a few weeks to succeed Janet Geary as publisher and Kathy Erickson as editor.

The World, which Lee acquired in 2005, is among the company's 55 daily newspapers.
