A man whose body was found wrapped in cloth in his sports car has been identified as an executive recruiter with a penchant for philanthropy, but police said the motive for the killing was unknown.
Kevin P. Shaw, 44, died of a penetration head wound, investigators in the King County medical examiner's office said Thursday.
No arrests have been reported, nor have police determined why Shaw was killed, officer Scott Moss said.
"It's a complete mystery to us," said Larry Woodin, a longtime friend and family spokesman. "Absolutely unexpected."
Shaw, reported missing on Monday, was found dead Thursday in his red Porsche Boxster, which had been parked for more than a day on north Beacon Hill a few blocks east of the interchange of Interstates 5 and 90.
He grew up in Billings, Mont., attended Gonzaga University in Spokane and moved to Seattle about 20 years ago, working for a time as a certified public accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Woodin said.
About 10 years ago, he established his own executive recruiting service, Kevin Shaw and Associates, and supported a number of charitable causes, his friend said.
Shaw left behind a longtime partner and two Cornish Rex cats, friends said.
