Fred Meyer Stores has served the communities of Oregon and southwest Washington for many years, beginning with our first store founded in Portland in 1922. Our commitment to youth development extends back to Mr. Meyer himself, and it has never wavered. Each year, we donate millions of dollars and millions of pounds of food to local non-profit organizations that work toward improving young people’s lives. Fred Meyer has held a school supply drive for decades, and we know that the 2008 drive will be the best ever, helping ensure that students in Oregon and southwest Washington start their school year with the tools they need to succeed.
Schoolhouse Supplies and The Salvation Army are two of the most critical non-profits serving families in our communities. Fred Meyer’s partnership with The Salvation Army goes back to the 1930s, and Fred Meyer was a founding supporter of Schoolhouse Supplies. It takes a little help from everyone to make sure all the young students in Oregon and southwest Washington have the chance to excel in school. We are grateful for the hard work these two non-profits do in our communities, and to partner with them for this year’s Back-to-School Supply Drive.
