The annual Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade has a tradition of less-than-perfect weather.
That's because the parade is held in early June, a time of transition from spring into summer, when the weather is unpredictable and can range from cool and rainy to hot and dry.
Thirty two of the past Grand Floral Parades have had measurable rain, according to the National Weather Service. NWS reported that the wettest parade day was June 9th, 1950 when .57 of an inch of rain fell. The next wettest parade day was June 12th, 1982, when .50 of an inch fell.
June 9th, 1933 was the coldest parade day with 57 degrees as the high temperature, according to NWS.
In contrast, the warmest parade day was June 15th, 1963 when the mercury climbed to 93 degrees.
The average parade day temperature hovers in the lower 70s, NWS reported.
