Three Red tail Hawk eggs in a nest outside a downtown Portland office building, as seen on the KGW Audubon Raptor Cam.
The live video view of the nest is made possible by a partnership between KGW and the Audubon Society of Portland.
The camera itself is placed about 15 feet above the nest of these Raptors, shooting through a fire escape, in order to avoid disturbing the birds. That's why it might look like the birds are 'in jail'.
We are able to remotely control the camera, with zoom, tilt and pan functions, without causing any human disturbance to the birds.
KGW worked with the Audubon Society to insure the birds were not disturbed by the addition of the camera. Thanks to the internet, we can enjoy this wildlife in our city without disturbing the birds in their nest.
