But, Dozono says he's still deciding whether to enter the race for Portland Mayor.

"It's a very important job. It's not one I think should be taken lightly. I do think elected office is the highest form of public service," he said.

This weekend Dozono sent an e-mail recruiting support.

A pre-campaign website also went online. The website includes Dozono's biography and a series of messages from his supporters.

Dozono is president and CEO of Azumano Travel. He's served as commissioner of the Port of Portland, Chair Emeritus of the Portland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Japan America Society of Oregon.

"I've been an observer and been engaged in government from a volunteer perspective, so this will be a big jump for me if I decide to enter politics in an elected way," explains Dozono.

If Dozono does run for Mayor, he'll join a field of ten candidates, including City Commissioner Sam Adams. Dozono, who describes himself as a "fairly liberal Democrat" plans to make a final decision in January.
