Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury.

The 59-year-old Bradbury is finishing his second term in statewide office. He is a former state Senate president who served in both houses of the legislature representing the Southern Oregon coast, and ran unsuccessfully against U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith in 2002.

If he decides to run, Bradbury said economic issues would be a central focus of his campaign. He's particularly enthused about the potential for what he calls the "green economy" to take root in Oregon's more rural reaches.

There's likely to be a crowded field of Democrats running for governor in 2010, while only a handful of Republicans have floated the possibility.
