SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon is getting $27.3 million in federal stimulus money for affordable housing.

The money announced Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will help fill funding gaps in financing programs, such as tax credits, which have lost value due to the recession.

Floyd Smith of Oregon Housing and Community Services says up to 30 low-income housing projects around the state have been stalled because of the recession and are eligible to apply for the money.

The money is part of $2.25 billion nationwide from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act going to bolster tax credits for affordable housing.
