Online voter registration bill clears Senate

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Oregon Senate has approved a bill that would let people register to vote online.

The bill is modeled on voter registration systems in Washington and Arizona.

Secretary of State Kate Brown said Monday that online registration will bring more voters, particularly young voters, into the election process.

The bill now heads back to the House, which previously approved it, for agreement on amendments made in the Senate.

It will then go to Gov. Ted Kulongoski for his signature.
