Oregon Voters' Pamphlets in the mail
07:33 AM PDT on Thursday, April 24, 2008
EUGENE, Ore. -- The arguments are in the mail.
The state has sent out most of the 1.7 million copies of the Voters' Pamphlet that will help Oregonians make their decisions in the May 20 primary election.
The guide includes explanations of local and statewide ballot measures and some are accompanied by arguments for and against them.
Almost every candidate seeking office paid to include information about themselves in the guide. Two notable exceptions are Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Candy Neville.
McCain has locked up the Republican nomination and enjoys strong name recognition. Neville is battling five other Democrats for the Senate nomination.
