PORTLAND, Ore. -- "Take Care of Oregon Days" designed to muster volunteers to work on more than 500 projects across the state will run through May as a part of Oregon's sesquicentennial celebration.
Organizers say they expect 20,000 volunteers to work in all 36 counties on projects to clean up the state. It is organized in collaboration with SOLV, the Oregon Volunteers and Rural Development Initiative and local governments and nonprofit groups.
Oregon 150 chairwoman Mary Oberst, who is the wife of Gov. Ted Kulongoski, says it is a chance for Oregonians to give something back to Oregon.
