Wayne Havrelly joined KGW NewsChannel 8 in January of 2007. He anchors the weekend morning newscasts and specializes in investigating stories of consumer fraud during the week.
Wayne has been chasing after stories in TV news for more than 20 years. Prior to moving to Portland, Wayne worked as an anchor and consumer/investigator for 7 years at KIRO-TV in Seattle. Before that, he worked as an anchor and investigative reporter for television stations in Orlando, Florida. He launched his television career in the 80's in Spokane, Washington.
Wayne's investigative reporting has helped put many con artists behind bars, led to changes in the law, and he's recovered millions of dollars for viewers who were ripped off by scams. Wayne has also reported live from almost every natural disaster imaginable. He's been in the middle of major hurricanes, wildfires and some of the deadliest tornados in U.S. history.
Wayne's standards of excellence are proven in that he's won several Emmy Awards and has been nominated for the prestigious award more than 20 times. He's also been the recipient of several national awards including the national headliner for investigative reporting and a National Press Club award for a 2006 consumer investigation.
Wayne is a graduate of Eastern Washington University and grew up close to Portland in fast growing Washougal, Wa. He's happy to once again be living back in Clark County with his family.
