BAGHDAD (AP) — Militants apparently bent on undermining security and confidence in the government set off a series of bombs across Iraq today that killed at least 15 people and wounded another 24.

The deadliest blasts were in the town of Musayyib some 40 miles south of the capital, where militants planted bombs around two houses, one belonging to a police officer. Two women and two children were killed, along with three men. Police say three others were wounded.

In the city of Hillah, a parked car bomb exploded in a busy street where local government offices are located, killing three people and wounding 21.

Also today, four policemen were killed in the northern city of Kirkuk while trying to defuse a bomb.

Another policeman was killed when a bomb hit a police convoy in a town 130 miles north of Baghdad.
