MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) —

Nicaraguan police say they have found $7 million in smuggled cash in vans driven by people posing as a Mexican television news crew.

National Police chief Aminta Granera says 18 people have been detained and six vans seized.

Some of the vans bear the logo of Mexico's Televisa television network, which says it has no connection to the suspects.

Granera said Friday the elaborate ruse was intended to smuggle the cash through Nicaragua to the neighboring nation of Costa Rica to the south.

The 18 were detained late Wednesday at the border crossing with Honduras. Some told border guards they were entering the country to cover the trial of suspects linked to the 2011 killing of Argentine folk singer Facundo Cabral.
