PORTLAND -- The public defenders in the Portland bomb plot both have experience working on terrorism cases.
Federal public defender Steve Wax is overseeing Mohamed Mohamud’s case, while chief deputy Steve Sady is leading the defense.
Sady is the chief deputy in the federal public defender’s office for the District of Oregon – meaning that he is second in charge at the local office. He has worked as a federal public defender for his entire career.
Sady was also one of 13 Oregon attorneys who volunteered to defend prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay.
In addition, Sady, represented Portland attorney Brandon Mayfield who was falsely linked to the 2004 Madrid train bombings.
