OREGON CITY, Ore. – A reserve Oregon City police officer died after being shot by a suspect while responding to a house fire in Oregon City Sunday, according to deputies. The suspect was shot and killed by officers.
Police and deputies swarmed to 841 Linn Avenue in Oregon City after first reports the officer was hit by gunfire, said Sgt. Robert Wurps with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

The officer was loaded into a Life Flight helicopter and flown to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. He died Monday.
Dozens of police moved in on the home and the threat to the public ended after the situation was "contained," before 3 p.m., Wurpes said.
Firefighters were originally called to the fire around 1 p.m. but were told there was a man with a gun and could not fight the fire, according to Brandon Paxton with the Clackamas Fire District.
