San Japan: Mach5's three-day convention is being held from August 10 through 12 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and Grand Hyatt Hotel. In 2011 the total attendees to the convention was 7,300. By 11 p.m. opening day this year, San Japan already had over 7,000 persons registered, according to spokesperson David Ramirez. The San Japan conventions features Lolita Bingo, Nerdcore Comedy, Dr. Horrible Sing-a-long, Evil Pastry Party Panel, Naked Bacon, Geek Link, Nerd Dating Advice, Scavenger Hunt, the Worst Cosplay Contest and various other quirky anime related happenings. Ramirez said the Saturday night ball starts at midnight - costumes should be killer.
