VIRGINIA BEACH -- An Oceana-based jet has crashed in Va. Beach.
Virginia State Police say it happened around 12:10 p.m. Friday on Birdneck Road. An apartment complex there also is on fire.
I-264 East at First Colonial Road is closed; The Laskin Road offramp from I-264 is also closed to all traffic.
13News' partners at the Virginian-Pilot report Navy officials as confirming an F/A-18 Hornet -- a two-seat jet belonging to VFA (Strike Fighter Squadron) 106 -- has crashed in the vicinity of Birdneck Road.
