CLARENCE CLEMONS: LARGER THAN LIFE MUSICIAN DIES, LEAVES BIG LEGACY
NEW YORK (AP) -- They called him the Big Man. And the death of Clarence Clemons will leave a big gap in the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Clemons passed away Saturday at age 69, about a week after he suffered a stroke at his Florida home. While there are other talented saxophonists around, Clemons' death takes from Springsteen a figure who has been loyal over the decades and has been a major part of the group's music. Springsteen suggested that the group will go on without him in a statement posted on his Web site over the weekend. He said Clemons' life, memory and love "will live on" in their music and the band.
