JOE FRAZIER: FUNERAL FOR EX HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION HELD IN PHILLY
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The man who both shared the spotlight with Joe Frazier -- and caused him much pain with both his words and fists -- was among the mourners at Frazier's funeral yesterday. Muhammad Ali paid his respects to his former opponent, along with fellow boxers Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks. Clearly stricken by Parkinson's disease, Ali seemed frail as he got out of a limousine outside the church where the service was held. The Philadelphia Inquirer's web site reports Frazier's white casket was draped in a tapestry and adorned by flowers. Also atop the casket: the heavyweight title belt he won by beating Ali in the 1971 fight at Madison Square Garden, one of three times the two men fought during their careers.
