STEVE PERRY PLANS TO RECORD SOLO MATERIAL
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Former Journey singer Steve Perry is returning to writing music, and he says that means he's getting his heart back. Perry started writing again about two and a half years ago, and he says that meant opening some doors he didn't want to open. He jokes that he lets the writing flow where it will, and as a result, he's got four songs that are about rain. He plans to go into a studio within the next few months, but there may be some work first, because even Steve Perry can't hit Steve Perry high notes. He says his voice is in good shape but on his last tour, it took three months of rehearsals for him to get his high range back.
