TRISHA YEARWOOD'S MOTHER DIES

TIFTON, Georgia (AP) -- Trisha Yearwood's mother has died. Gwen Yearwood passed away Saturday after a long fight with cancer. She was 73. Both Trisha and her sister Beth were at their mother's side when she died. Gwen Yearwood had been a teacher. With her two daughters, she co-wrote "Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen," which was released in 2008. Two years later came "Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood." A statement from the Yearwood family thanks well-wishers and asks that expressions of sympathy in Gwen Yearwood's name be directed to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which helps fund breast cancer research.
