"THE HOBBIT" WILL NOW BE A TRILOGY

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- Peter Jackson knows from trilogies, having won Oscars for "The Lord of the Rings." Now, he's decided to turn "The Hobbit" into a trilogy. Jackson says after he watched a cut of the first film and part of the second, he realized there was enough left for a third. He says if they stopped at two films, they wouldn't have time to show the rise of the Necromancer and the Battle of Dol Guldur. The first installment is due in theaters this December. The second film will be out a year later and the third in the summer of 2014.
