WILL SMITH: "MEN IN BLACK 3" IN LONG GREEN AT NUMBER ONE
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have done what no one else has managed to do the past three weeks: get the mastery over "The Avengers." The sequel "Men in Black 3" makes its debut at the top of the box office list -- taking in $55 million dollars between its debut Friday and yesterday. That knocks "The Avengers" into second place after three monster weeks on top. Even as it finished as the runner up to MIB-3, The Avengers took in $37 million over the three days to push its domestic take to $514 million so far. That makes it only the fourth movie to pass the half billion dollar mark. Number three over the holiday weekend was "Battleship" with "The Dictator" checking in at number four -- and "Chernobyl Diaries" opened at number five.
