BILLY BOB THORNTON IS BACK AS A DIRECTOR

BERLIN (AP) -- Billy Bob Thornton says his frustration at the state of films in America prompted him to direct his first feature in more than a decade. It's called "Jayne Mansfield's Car." He's in it, along with John Hurt, Robert Duvall and Kevin Bacon. Thornton took the 1960s family drama to the Berlin International Film Festival, where it premiered last night. Thornton says when he found himself complaining too much about movies in America, he decided to just go ahead and write and direct one.
