Take a look at some of the famous sports figures who went broke. According to Sports Illustrated, 78 percent of NFL players and 60 percent of NBA players file for bankruptcy within two years of their retirement.

The former Mets outfielder was sentenced in March 2012 to three years in state prison in a grand theft auto case. Lenny Dykstra also filed for bankruptcy in 2009, claiming to have only $50,000 in assets, but more than $31 million in debts.
