BROOKE BURKE-CHARVET HAS THYROID CANCER

NEW YORK (AP) -- Brooke Burke-Charvet has thyroid cancer. She broke the news in a video message on YouTube. She says she's going to have surgery to remove the thyroid. Burke-Charvet told ModernMom.com that a lump on her thyroid was found during a biopsy and she didn't check back to get the results. She says she only had the biopsy after delaying the ultrasound her internist recommended for eight months. A friend with thyroid cancer persuaded to her get the ultrasound. Why didn't she follow up eight months ago? Burke-Charvet told the website she was "too busy," which she now admits was an "irresponsible, stupid and lame excuse." Her publicist says Burke-Charvet will still be able to co-host "Dancing With the Stars."
