An 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck Japan on March 11, 2011, causing a tsunami that devastated the region. Four nuclear plants in northeastern Japan have reported damage, but the danger Monday appeared to be greatest at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex, where one explosion occurred over the weekend and a second was feared.
