A new young adult movie dominated the box office this weekend, but it has been getting a surprising reaction from fans on Twitter.
“The Fault in our Stars” made $48.2 million in its opening weekend, topping Tom Cruise’s action film, “The Edge of Tomorrow.” The movie is based on a book by the same name, written by John Green.
It stars Shailene Woodley as a teenage cancer patient. She meets Gus, a charismatic survivor, at a support group. Despite the fact that her days are numbered, she begins to see things differently with him, and the two fall in love.
The book is known as a tear-jerker, and, surprise, the movie is getting the same wrap. But the film is also getting an odd reaction online, from moviegoers who say they’re unhappy with the emotions they felt in the theater.
On social media, a lot of people are throwing hate at author John Green.

Even without giving away any spoilers, you can imagine a movie starring young teenagers with cancer would bring a few tears to your eyes.
