Live in Oregon? Register to vote by Tuesday

Tuesday is Oregon's voter registration deadline

PORTLAND, Ore. – Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote in Oregon before the November 8 general election. You can do so at the Multnomah County Elections Office, online, or by mailing in your registration card.

This year has already seen a new record for voters in Multnomah County.

“We set our previous registration record in 2012, at 452,000. And we actually surpassed that in March of this year. So we've been setting new records every day since then, and we topped 500,000 last week,” said Multnomah County Director of Elections Tim Scott. "We're at 502,000 now. That’s about 75 percent of those eligible to vote."

Scott said more voter registration cards keep coming in every day.

If you have already registered to vote, Scott said, this is a good opportunity for you to make sure your address is up to date, or to change political parties.

To register in Multnomah County, visit the elections office at 1040 SE Morrison St., Portland, OR 97214. You have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to meet the deadline.

If you mail your voter registration, it must be postmarked by Tuesday.

You can also register online and check your status by visiting OregonVotes.gov.

Washington residents who have not yet registered to vote can do so in person, until October 31.
