NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton says President Barack Obama has earned another term because he's managed to maneuver the country through a miserable economy since he took office.

Clinton and Obama appeared together at New York City fundraisers Monday, having patched up some personal differences. Clinton says a Mitt Romney presidency would be "calamitous" for the nation and the world.

Obama says there's a lot at stake in the November election but insists Democrats shouldn't fear the upcoming debate because they have the better argument. He says the Republican argument amounts to "you're all on your own." He says that hasn't been the philosophy under which America grew.

The two plan several more joint events across the country. Clinton has also recorded a video for Obama and sent campaign emails to supporters.
