Election robocall scam upsets Oregonians

State investigates robo calls to voters

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Ballot boxes like the one at Pioneer Court House Square are popular places in these closing days of the election.

Hundreds of thousands of voters are making their final decisions.

Which is why so many are angry over robocalls going out to Oregon voters.

It says in part, “your voter registration may have been marked inactive" And urges action, "contact the lane county elections office immediately."

The information is often wrong, voters are just fine.

Oregon’s Secretary of State says voters should not be fooled or alarmed.

“We want to make sure that everybody in Oregon knows, if they have a ballot in hand there is no question but they have an active registration,” Jeanne Atkins said.

State and federal investigators are looking into the calls to find the source and the motivation for them.
