PORTLAND - Multnomah County Commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to tighten gun laws within the county.

The new ordinance would make it a crime to carry loaded guns in public places and illegal to fire a gun in the county, except in designated places and on private property.

The law also criminalizes allowing minors to access gun, and failure to report a stolen gun. There would also be a stiff curfew for minors convicted of a gun offense.

The ordinance does not affect concealed carry permit holders.

The laws go into effect in 30 days.
