OREGON CITY, Ore. – Deputies asked for the public’s help Tuesday in identifying the “Nicotine Bandit,” who was suspected of stealing $1,000 in nicotine gum.
At approximately 4:57 p.m. Sunday, a man allegedly walked into a Walgreens on Southwest 82nd Avenue and Johnson Creek Boulevard, filled a basket with hundreds of dollars in Nicorette gum and fled the store, according to Sgt. Nathan Thompson of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Security camera footage identified the suspect as a white man, five foot, ten inches to six feet tall and about 150 pounds, wearing distinctive glasses, deputies said.
His description matched that of a man who stole hundreds of dollars worth of nicotine gum from the same Walgreens in 2013, Thompson said.
“While the sheriff's office usually applauds efforts to quit smoking,” Thompson said. “We urge the public to quit in a lawful manner.”
Anyone with information about the crime was asked to contact the sheriff's office at 503-723-4949 or online here.
