VANCOUVER – A Washougal woman and her dog were hit by a car in Vancouver Wednesday night, police said.
They were crossing Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue near Northeast 86th Street at around 9:15 p.m. The two were near a crosswalk when they were hit, said Sgt. Linda Hayes of the Vancouver Police Department.
The woman, later identified as 39-year-old Tanya Moser, was taken to a nearby hospital and the dog was taken to a veterinary hospital. The extent of their injuries was not known.
The driver, 70-year-old Frank Gaffery of Vancouver, stayed on the scene and cooperated with police.
Hayes said speed and impairment were not factors. She added that lighting is poor in the area and Gaffery did not see Moser or her dog.
